Brief VALL Job Descriptions
The President has overall responsibility for VALL and is the official face of the organization. The President chairs luncheon and Executive meetings, coordinates Executive members' duties and facilitates in the resolution of contentious issues.
The Past President acts as a liaison between the new Executive and the past Executive, and finds a slate of volunteers for the new Executive.
The Vice President is the president-elect; this position is the first year of a three-year commitment to VALL (Vice President, President and Past President). This reflects a philosophy of stability for VALL as an organization by providing continuity from one executive to the next. Coordinates the Peter Bark Professional Development Bursary.
The Treasurer for VALL acts as the signing officer for the receiving and disbursing of VALL revenues. The main responsibilities include: Preparing the bank deposits, issuing cheques for bills received, maintaining the financial records and books, and preparing a financial statement for the Fall issue of the VALL review. Previous experience is not required.
The Membership Secretary is responsible for maintaining a current database list of VALL members, maintaining the pdf version of the directory and sending out seminar notices.
Program Coordinators (3 positions)
Reporting to the Executive, the Programme Coordinators are responsible for managing and overseeing several aspects of the continuing education seminars of the Association. They suggest, organize and schedule speakers as well as liaise with the meeting venue to ensure the presentation equipment, luncheon menus, and registration requirements are met. One of the Coordinators is responsible for the seminar registrations which includes receipt and submission of cheques to Treasurer, preparing requested receipts, confirmation of numbers and dietary requirements with venue, and manning registration desk on day of seminar. Finally, they co-ordinate the purchase & presentation of the VALL gifts of appreciation for the speakers and retiring members of the VALL Executive.
VALL Review Editors (2 positions)
The Review Editors are responsible for gathering, reviewing and liaising on acceptance and editorial changes with authors of articles submitted of interest to the membership in the VALL Review newsletter (3 times per annum).The editors are also responsible for uploading the VALL Review on to the VALL website.
The position of Webmaster is held by a member of the the VALL executive. The webmaster is responsible for: Assisting members of VALL in using the website, including posting items for them.Making sure material on the VALL website is kept up to date including (but not limited) to:Updating contact information for the executive,removing job postings as they expire,keeping the VALL domain name registered which happens annually in mid January.
