Vancouver Area Special Libraries Event

The Special Libraries Association Western Canada Chapter is holding its year end event on Monday, November 27th in one week.

Details follow.

Our keynote speaker, CBC Vancouver meteorologist Johanna Wagstaffe, will be speaking to the parallel challenges faced by libraries and the media industry as advances in technology change the way our clients navigate the world around them. She will also be addressing her experiences communicating specialized information and research to non-specialist audiences, including how she leveraged her podcasts, Fault Lines and 2050: Degrees of Change.

Catered snacks and a beer or wine are included with your ticket and will be available from 6:15pm. A cash bar will also be available.

When: Monday, November 27th. Doors at 6:15pm, keynote address at 7:15pm.

Where: The Post @ 750, an event space located at 110-750 Hamilton Street in downtown Vancouver (on Hamilton, between Robson and Georgia).

Tickets: Purchase your tickets online today. Students and SLA members receive a discount but all information professionals and interested students are welcome to attend.

Should you wish to sponsor a ticket for a local lib tech or MLIS student, you may purchase that option at the link above and event organizers will contact you with further details.

Directions: The street address for our event location is 110-750 Hamilton but this space is not at street level. The easiest way to find it is to get yourself to Hamilton Street between Robson and Georgia. Mid-block, with the VPL Central Branch behind you, you will be looking at a JJ Bean coffee kiosk. To the right of that, you will see a set of concrete steps leading up. Follow those steps to 750 and look for our volunteer at the door. If arriving late, please dial 110 on the entryphone to be admitted.
