It's time to speak - Advocacy Course is now re-opened!

From Wendy Newman of the University of Toronto:

A warm greeting on a freezing cold January day!

Just want to let you all know that the MOOC: Library Advocacy Unshushed, will be offered again, starting Feb. 2. You will recognize some familiar NELI folks in our guest speaker roster. This is a free, interesting, and painless way to do professional development during a Canadian winter. I hope you will help to spread the word in your networks.

Is anyone missing the CLE "Introducing Evidence at Trial"?

We found the 2013 CLE text Introducing Evidence at Trial: A BC Handbook in our book drop on December 19th, but it's not our copy.

Is anyone missing it?

There are no stamps in the book, but it does have a call number on the spine, KN390 I57 2013.  There is a card pocket in the back, complete with card, that was last filled out on September 5th by JRB.

If it's yours, let us know!  604-660-2841. If we don't hear anything by February 2, 2015, we're going to adopt it into our collection.

 Thanks!

Halsbury's Laws of England - 3d ed Free with cost of shipping

From Ronn Cheney:

Good day all:

I have a lawyer retiring at end of year and has a complete set (46 volumes) of Halsbury’s Laws of England - 3d ed + the Canadian Converter supplements.

For the cost of shipping they will be available until end of December.

Our local recycling depot will not take books (Go figure) so he would like them to go to an inside location that is warm and fuzzy.

After all it is Christmas.

Thanks Ronn Cheney, Law Librarian

Senate Page Program is Recruiting - ideal for aspiring law librarians

If you know a current grade 12 student or an in-progress undergrad student who aspires to be a law librarian/lawyer/paralegal/legal assistant, I encourage you to send them the attached Senate Page Program recruiting information.

I was a Senate Page for two years and it was a fantastic experience because I was so interested in political science. I definitely recommend it over the rival House of Commons Page Program. Typically, Senate Pages will go on to work in public policy, law, or non-profit management.

Please feel free to have any interested young people in your life contact me if they have any questions.
