Job Posting Policy

Any VALL member is welcome to post a job on the VALL website.

To post a job, you need to be logged in to the website. Once logged in, click on the link in the left hand menu that says "Create content" and then choose "Blog entry". Make sure that you have selected "Job Postings" as the category. Once done, click on "Submit" to publish the job posting.

If you run into any issues posting a job, please contact the webmaster.

Job postings will be removed 30 days after the deadline for applications. If there is no deadline in the job posting, the job posting will be removed 60 days after its initial publication date.

Research Librarian Wanted

The British Columbia Securities Commission is looking for a librarian for a one-year contract. The successful applicant will assist the Commission’s lawyers, accountants and investigators by undertaking company and legal research and by making inquiries into the public record. You will publish a daily news service. You will also contribute to the maintenance of a focused collection of securities and administrative law materials. This position is ideal for a new or recent library school graduate with plans to embark on a career in either law or business librarianship. You have the curiosity as well as the initiative to thrive as a researcher in a field with which you may very well be unfamiliar: the Canadian securities industry.

Courthouse Libraries BC (CLBC) is currently searching for a Librarian for our Victoria location.

CLBC’s vision is that everyone in BC has the legal information they need and the ability to use it. CLBC connects the legal community and the public in BC with legal information and strives to equip our clients with the skills needed to use this information.

We are looking for a team member with a customer service focus to provide information services to clients in the Victoria branch and to share the responsibility for the day to day functioning and maintenance of the library. This position is part of our Regional Branches team that serves clients throughout the province.

We offer a dynamic and supportive workplace, where we value diversity and work-life balance. This position is a one year term, working Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm (35 hours per week). 

What You’ll Be Doing

Job posting: Law Librarian, Lakehead University (Thunder Bay, ON)

Lakehead University invites applications for a Law Librarian to commence in January 2018. The Law Librarian reports to the University Librarian and Vice-Provost (Teaching & Learning) and will work closely with the Dean, Bora Laskin Faculty of Law.

The Search Committee will begin considering potential candidates after October 16, 2017 and will continue until the position is successfully filled. Applicants should include a letter of interest that clearly articulates your vision and interest in law librarianship, a curriculum vitae, and the names three referees (who will not be contacted without the consent of the applicant).
