Plans and coordinates the provision of library services; identifies, selects, acquires and manages information resources to meet the requirements of client departments; prepares draft library policies and/or participates in the development of organizational policies related to issues such as copyright, retention, archiving, preservation and maintenance of internally produced documents.
Administers the selection and procurement of electronic information products; negotiates vendor contracts including terms of usage and ongoing product development; issues contracts within assigned budget; ensures contract compliance; troubleshoots subscription and access problems; recommends and administers subscription renewal.
Provides reference, research services and information in response to a variety of requests from departmental staff, municipalities, the business community and the general public.
Bodleian Law Librarian

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Law Librarian to lead and manage the Bodleian Law Library as a world-leading library service for law research, teaching and scholarship. The current incumbent is retiring after 13 years in the role and at the conclusion of a major refurbishment project, and this post offers an exciting opportunity to develop world-class law collections and services during a time of significant change in the information landscape.
You will be experienced in building effective working relationships and managing staff, will have excellent knowledge of legal resources and legal publishers, and an informed commitment to the aims of library support in a major academic institution. You will deputise for the Head of the Bodleian Social Sciences Libraries, will oversee the Bodleian’s Official Papers Section which is housed in the Law Library, and will actively contribute to the law library profession at a national and international level.
You will have a good undergraduate degree and a higher degree in librarianship or information science. Experience of fund-raising and working with development officers and donors will be an advantage.
