VALL April Session: “US Law 101” with Adam Lederer

    Wednesday April 28, 2021

    12:00PM – 1:30PM

    Description

As our largest trading partner and only geographic neighbour, it is not an overstatement to say that the United States plays an important part in Canadian life, down to our work as legal information professionals! It is also likely not an overstatement to say that the US legal system is intricate, complex and perplexing.

To this end, join Adam Lederer as he shares his knowledge and experience with US legal research practices, and the American legislative and judicial branches. He will also share some helpful resources and offer tips for using PACER when searching court dockets.

Though a “101” introductory-level session, if you have a particular aspect of US legal research that you would like to be addressed, please suggest them to our Programs Co-Chair Erin Clupp by sending an email to: erin.clupp@nortonrosefulbright.com

    About our speaker

Adam Lederer is the Manager of Library Services in Norton Rose Fulbright’s New York office. Adam has 24 years of law firm experience. His professional career began in 1997 when he joined the library at Chadbourne & Parke for what was supposed to only be a summer job. Staying with them through their 2017 combination with Norton Rose Fulbright, Adam has held every position possible in the library, except for cataloger. He has been in his current managerial role for the past 8 years.

Adam earned his MLS from Queens College in 2003. When he is not spending his days finding a needle in a haystack, Adam is entertained and overwhelmed by his two small children and the general banalities of pandemic life.
