Join us for a lively session with Celia Hagey (University of Idaho) and Tracy McLean (Courthouse Libraries BC) on accessibility and EDI in hiring. Celia will share her experience creating the Accessible Job Interviews Toolkit, which lives on the British Columbia Library Association website, and share tips on how to make the interview process more accessible, particularly for neurodivergent candidates and employees. Tracy will discuss a recent project by CLBC to update hiring practices to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion. At the end of both presentations, we will have time for questions and discussion from participants. Registrants will come away with an understanding of some of the different ways to promote accessibility and EDI in hiring. Attendees need not be hiring managers; this session is suitable for all career stages and is an opportunity to reflect on our approaches to accessibility and equity.

Speaker Bios
Celia Hagey is the Instruction and User Services Librarian at the University of Idaho, where she teaches on the library’s First Year Experience Team and coordinates and staffs the reference desk. She also chairs the Orbis Cascade Alliance’s Accessibility Standing Group and loves to advocate for accessibility in academic libraries. She graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2025 with her MLIS and thinks fondly of her memories in Canada! Outside of work, she’s probably reading, running, or watching mystery/detective TV shows.
Tracy McLean is the Manager of Information Services at Courthouse Libraries BC. She is responsible for managing the space, staff and library services in 3 full-time locations – Vancouver, New Westminster and Abbotsford – that help lawyers and the public find and use legal information. Tracy also develops training and outreach activities for frontline service staff across the province. In addition to this, Tracy has many years of experience in legal research and creating online content. Prior to joining Courthouse Libraries BC, she worked as a librarian at Vancouver Public Library.
