• Thursday December 1 Seminar – Please join VALL for our December Seminar – Access to Justice: How law librarians can give back

Please join VALL for our December seminar, “Access to Justice: How law librarians can give back” with guest speaker Dom Bautista. Dom will cover how law librarians can use their expertise to help self-represented litigants as a part of Amici Curiae. For more information about our speaker, please visit Dom’s Twitter page @LCCDomBautista.

Amici Curiae, which is now in its 5th year of operation, provides supervision of duty counsel and assistance to self-represented litigants. On any given day on any of the 3 levels of BC courts, self-represented litigants are regular fixtures. Like any party to a matter, they need to conduct legal research to help prove their case; this is one significant area where law librarians can play a huge role. And that, Dom says, is just the starting point. Amici Curiae volunteers are made up of lawyers, paralegals, firm accountants, and now, law librarians. For more details please visit their website at: http://lawcourtscenter.camp7.org/page-1770376.
