VALL March Session: “Engaging Your Virtual Learner Audience” with Dorothea Hendriks

    Wednesday, March 31, 2021

    12:00PM – 1:15PM

As many of us continue to undertake instruction and onboarding in a virtual environment for the foreseeable future, there may be room for some new strategies to improve learner engagement and to mitigate presenter stress.

To this end, join communications coach Dorthea Hendriks as she shares with us some methods to enhance virtual learning engagement, including effectively using virtual collaboration tools, designing more effective slides, and setting ground rules for establishing a common sense of understanding between instructor and learner.

    About our speaker:

Dorothea Hendriks is the founder of Art of Speaking for Success workshops and coaching (if her name sounds familiar to some of you, it is because she presented to VALL in February 2019 with her Brown Bag session “Keeping Your Cool in the Workplace”).

For the past twenty-five years, she has presented workshops to the corporate sector, government and not-for-profit organizations. Dorothea has coached TEDx speakers, entrepreneurs and business professionals to master their presentation skills and speaking competencies.

A former instructor at Vancouver Community College, past provincial champion speaker and contract trainer to a leading North American company, Dorothea has facilitated communication skills workshops to thousands of people across Canada. She believes that everything changes in your life when you change how you communicate with others.
