    Please join VALL for our inaugural substantive session of the 2023-24 season, featuring Sarah Sutherland discussing that hot topic: generative AI as a current and potential research tool for lawyers and law librarians. Sarah will introduce the topic with a talk about the implications of generative AI for the legal community, then will lead a discussion about issues, concerns, and what the future holds.

    About the Speaker
    Sarah Sutherland is a writer, speaker, and executive specializing in legal technology, information, and publishing. She is principal consultant at Parallax Information Consulting where she focuses on legal data strategy. Prior to that she worked for nine years at the Canadian Legal Information Institute (CanLII), most recently as president and CEO. Her book, Legal Data and Information in Practice: How Data and the Law Interact, was published by Routledge in January 2022. She was named one of the Fastcase 50 in 2022, and was awarded the Denis Marshall Award for Excellence in Law Librarianship in 2023.
